Favorite Blogs

Here is a list of some of my favorite blogs!

WhatJewWannaEat is a Jewish food inspired blog written by Amy Kritzer, using recipes inspired by her Bubbe Eleanor. Needing inspiration and what she calls a challenge, Bubbe sent Amy all her recipes and Amy started cooking! After quitting her corporate job, Amy has been able to inspire by adding her own twist to traditional ‘Jewish’ foods. Shakshuka was always #1 on my birthday wish list and this recipe for classic shakshuka looks amazing and authentic! My family secrets? An old beat-up pan that has been used exclusively for shakshuka for years! She talks about the broadness of Jewish eating which really resonated with me and being able to add a modern twist to traditional food is what my blog is all about! Replicating and teaching historical moments through food.

My blog is based on history and stories and bringing the stories to life through food. The Jewish Food Society is just that! They work by providing space for Jewish family recipes and most importantly they provide the history behind every recipe. This blog is so interesting to sort through and read and they work so hard to keep the Jewish connection alive through food! The Matbucha recipe really hit close to home as my Grandmother would prepare this dip on special occasions and it would be devoured the same day!

Philly Grub is a local food blog founded by Marilyn Johnson that highlights food news and events in the Philadelphia area, as well as reviews of local restaurants. Johnson prides her blog on being authentic which I really enjoy, she states that many local blogs use AI and Philly Grub does not! Each review and article is carefully written and reviewed to ensure authenticity as journalism is a key point in creating meaningful content. I really enjoy this blog as it is honest and open, just like the city of Philadelphia itself. The reviews are concise and detailed, featuring favorites like Harp & Crown’s brunch, and featured dishes at Zahav. I will be checking out some of her recommendations soon!

Thanksgiving is a holiday that many people love, mostly because the leftovers are AMAZING! I AM A FOOD BLOG has so many holiday recipes that look delicious, but the one that caught my eye was their 9 Best Thanksgiving Leftover Recipes. This post has 9 creative meals that use the many leftovers I am sure we will all have after turkey day. The turkey rice bowl was one that caught my eye straight away, as I am a sucker for rice bowls and you can easily make this with whatever leftovers you have. The turkey fried rice also looked great and I may have to give that a try this year! These recipes are older ones from the blog but have a twist in the sense that you would use turkey over salmon or chicken.
